There has been no shortage of severe weather this summer. I don't know if I can recall a summer like this with such intense thunderstorms. Mainly heavy rain but a few storms kicking up some big wind. The lake level has risen about 8" I figure with about the same, maybe a bit more of total rainfall in about 6-7 weeks. There are sections of ski trails where water is flowing across because the ponds are so full and water tables are so high water is flowing through the ground.

Saturday morning a storm brewed up rather quickly. I checked the radar and it looked like it was going to head more east and didn't look that big but it moved southeast and got bigger and bigger. I was standing on the deck when the above cloud moved through. The rotation in the sky was like a horizontal tornado. The waves on the lake were rolling from the northwest but the leaves on the trees right behind me were blowing from the southeast. It was awesome, only because nothing bad happened. Fascinating to be in the middle of weather. Whether it is a blizzard or the above.

There was a lighting strike that hit maybe 20 feet from the lodge. I was on the deck when it happened and just about knocked me over. Some counselors thought it hit the control box on the septic tank near the lodge and others reported a big white ball with colors just off the hot tub area. After the rain passed through it was obvious the box wasn't hit as it would of been toast.
We had about 3/4" of rainfall in 20 minutes, flooding the low spots quick. Rain held off rest of the day as cells moved through north and south of us where up to 7" of rain from that system was reported in Perham area. Translated to snow, that would been close to 5 feet of snow but storms don't work like that in the winter.
Last year I didn't have the bobcat out once to fill any gully washers. Five times so far this year.
This past week Jon was at bible camp near Menagha with his friend Eli. Jens I picked him up since Jonell was out in CO with Jake for Nationals. (photos and report when they get home)
Scooter and Skeeter rolling through Menagha nicely. Good stuff. Like the aero hitch. Click on the photo full size if you want to use it for a screen saver.
