With no kids activities on the books this past week, we decided to head up to the lake cabin for the week. My mom and dad covered at the resort. The weather could not of been better after the steamy conditions on Monday

Everyone water skied nicely including Jens for the first time (long run anyways) and Mom and Dad.
Jonell's dad picked up this real nice skillet at a garage sale 30 years back, I think he said, probably the biggest skillet I have seen other than the one at the Paul Bunyan museum. I have always thought about giving it a go but never have. Ended up cooking pretty much all the meals with it. Bacon grease poached eggs! Good stuff. The skillet over a birch/maple/Norway pine fire is the real deal. We don't eat just salad and vegetables in our house and most nights in the summer cooking over a wood fire for evening meal.

Of course Paul knew how to water ski.

Good trip for Carlos and Lily to learn some boundaries.
Out for pontoon cruise with Grandpa's new and first ever pontoon.
Jonell and Jens on gas run.
Blueberry-chocolate chip pancakes. Little bit big for one cake but worked out much better than I thought with unknown heat. Better to have a real hot fire and pull off if need be versus too cool of a fire.
Pastor Pinehurst.

Farmers daughter lure in outhouse. You know the outhouse is an important place with this hanging in it because it probably would catch a couple hundred on ebay and what lunker in the lake wouldn't want to sink its teeth on that metal. If the pre-teens are hanging out in the ut hus for an extended period of time, this is probably why.
Missed out on riding over the Fourth of July but rode every day enjoying some great riding. Nothing over an hour fifteen but plenty fun in the rides we did.
Flying down the big hills on Norris road. The lake sits at about 1400 feet and the high point on Norris is just under 2000. 600ft of elevation gain isn't too bad for this neck of the woods. Super fun riding back as you roll up and down to the low point. I haven't replaced the Garmin I lost at Nationals last year but here are some specs from a ride last year if interested. If you drag the map around, you can see no problem to have a 30-50 mile point to point loop. Like I said before, maybe a tour/race in the future.
Ginger pork stirfry in the skillet.
Jake climbing on the Bass Lake trail. Probably the favorite to ride in the area.
Four perfectly behaved boys.....for one second!

Jens discovered how a cyclometer works and rode around and around the cabin for solid 1 hour plus, putting on 6 miles on probably a 50 meter loop. Was shooting for 11 but ran out of time.
Frying up chicken for chicken tacos. Just like fish but chicken instead. Great week, good times.
