It was either last weekend or the weekend before a guest checking out said "I bet you will be glad we are all gone so you can have some piece and quiet." Well, sometimes 100 people at the lodge is more quiet than the shenanigans going on at the house.

With these five yardbirds, it is constant pet drama. I never thought I would like a cat after having one explode hershey squirts next to my head when I was sleeping growing up and the 100's of cats that roamed around Essex, MT from Joanie and Alfreds house and dribbled on my ski guiding backcountry back pack. "Boots" has definitely earned the right to walk the railing. He has killed at least 60 mice over the summer and this Fall. On occasion he wanders over to the lodge can cabins to do some "killa" The rest of the pets, well I'm not going to do a post on pet stories so I will leave it at that other than it is some good entertainment other than cleaning up dog pee but Carlos is getting better.
Sorry Jonell, I didn't mean to trash your plant when I was re arranging the deck furniture.
Last weekend we had the annual Pumpkin Run and all the boys did the race. I was extremely proud about that. Jon's friend Carter joined in and had a solid race. Jon and Carter playing on the same football team. Carter the signal caller, doing a very nice job.
Jack coming down the singletrack.
Steve Wenzel killing it on Suicide Hill. Steve wins the Lars Ellefson award for having done all the events at Maplelag in 2010. Lotvola Cup, Spring Opener, Laddies Loppet and Pumpkin Run. He took all the boys out to sleep under the stars but Mother Nature brewed up some strange cells with a heavy shower coming from the southeast as another cell clipped by from the northwest moving southwest.
One thing about Carlos... he has been joining us now on some training sessions and is a riot. We were riding the Twin Lakes singletrack over the weekend at dusk and Carlos was following Jake. Jake of course jumps everything jumpable and Carlos follows trying to do the same thing. Some of the corners he whips his rear end around, getting off trail but front paws keep moving on the track. Riot.
Hill bounding on Suicide. Up and down 7 times full out. Have to get a ski joring kit for him.

Sorry we didn't make it up for the Pumpkin Race. I would have loved to but B went camping with some guys and as it turned out Tegan had a fever and felt icky all weekend. Hopefully we can make it next year! :)
