Last weekend a big storm hit parts of the Midwest. If you haven't read or head about the cyclocross race in the twin cities, be sure to check out Steve Wenzel and Jim Cullen's blogs that highlight some of the intense conditions. Unreal. It is always fun to have a big storm like that (not fun for driving all the time!) and gets everyone excited for the season, that loves winter and snow. And the fact a lot of high school teams could begin the season on snow, is awesome. It would of been fun to head down and catch the action but just too much going on with three groups at the resort, Jens hockey, Jack basketball game and Jon hockey game, outside chores to try and wrap up, picking up kids and friends it was jammed pack and all good. It was a bummer to miss the snow but the ground is still not completely frozen and with a lot of low spots very wet, it would of been a big mess and I think only 1-2 trails that could of been groomed all the way through.

Jake and I were planning on making a trip to West Yellowstone over Thanksgiving week but decided pretty much last minute on Sunday morning to head out this week for a few days. We stopped at Bohart Ranch outside of Bozeman this afternoon for a ski. They had just rolled the trails and skiing was great. After the ski we went in to Bozeman to meet up with the Nordic coach at MSU and talk about collegiate racing. The coach is originally from Norway and has done a great job the last 8 years growing the program. After a good visit, caught a bite to eat than went up to West Yellowstone. Tons of snow in Big Sky area but when we drove up to West it was pretty thin. However, after checking in, it started to snow pretty good and looks like a big dump on tap for the night and tomorrow.

Skiing a meadow at Bohart. Fun trails, great terrain.
Climbing a hill, Bridger Bowl alpine ski area in background.
