With cold weather on the move, areas of water will soon be "locked up". Meaning frozen, no more swimming and time to get out the ice skates. Looks like next week and week after cold temps to fire up the lake and prairie effect guns and hopefully the ground will soon be white.

Drove past Hamden slough the other day as Jonell and I were out on 20 hour date excursion. Slough loaded nicely with ducks. Fun to stop and watch, listen and see the patterns. Mostly greenheads and the feeder calls about as good as it gets. With all the water to the west of us, probably the biggest reason some of these northern birds aren't more local. Talked to a old timer today asking if he has been out duck hunting. "I don't get mad at em like I used to so its harder to suffer in the elements".
