Congrats to everyone who bagged a deer over deer hunting. The more deer that are harvested the less chance for.....

...deer ticks to latch on and become a carrier of Lyme disease. Even though we have had some cold weather and the snow, the deer ticks are still out in full force and the pets have been picking them up. I got out hunting a few times, seeing a few does but no bucks. Deer hunting is more like deer waiting. Lot of time sitting in the "stand". And that's what it takes, a lot of sitting and waiting. There is the prep to find where deer are moving and built a stand proper but the I would say hunting is more the tracking and sneaking up on the deer. Doing drives, where groups of people walk through the woods to push deer against the wind to "posters" works well when the weather has been as warm as it has. I have had the best success hunting while riding through the woods on the mountain bike not carrying a gun. Monday late afternoon was just too nice to sit in the stand and with a hour window, I oranged up and rode a lap and sure enough see a monster buck and another smaller buck 10 minutes later.
The weekend my sister and brother in law Dan came to visit their four boys.
Some good back yard football.
Carlos diving in to Jonell's cap. Just what he needed.
After snow in October thought the grilling and camp fire time was shut down but any opportunity, both get fired up. Beautiful night for just that on Saturday.
Hot coals from a maple wood fire.
Normally we wait until Thanksgiving for the last dip of the year but Jens, Jack, Joe and David had a quick jump in.
