Think the last time we all went out for supper was Jonell's birthday. This time it was the old mans. Never a dull moment.
Still can't believe how good the skiing continues to be. We have had skiing this late for sure but the snow type and deep base.....can't ever recall a March 30th like today. Met up with Denny Barry who is getting a replaced knee back in order and had a nice ski on North Loup. Absolutely beautiful morning in the woods.
It is going to be a while til the singletrack is rideable. At least a month?! The gravel roads are good but hard to ride when skiing is like it is. The short notice Spring Opener mtb race is on the radar but will have to wait to see how the melt goes before we can pin a date before racing crank up in May and whether we can sneak it in.
Growing up the gravel roads weren't always so good, like the new driveways that break up pretty good now. Our driveway and goat ranch road is like a interestate compared to the 70's. We used to have to park cars at the end of Maplelag driveway in the Spring and walk out because the driveway was just not passable. Even the goat ranch road was barely passable and remember the floor boards pushing up from the dirt underneath. Took some driving skills for sure to get to the pavement, especially to or from the west.
