Saturday Jake was able to get out for a last ski on a continuous 4km loop. Jonell and I came home late Sunday night and figured there would be enough snow to ski Monday one last time. When I went to check things out, it was pretty much toast. There was enough on Suicide Hill so I waited until Tuesday after getting caught up around the lodge and what not to log one last ski in the morning, going up and down Suicide.

Ending how we started. Amazing ski season, can't remember this many skiable days from October to April in quite some time.

Rain on Sunday, warm days and non freezing nights transformed the trails to spring. Total change in just one week. Seems typical now the last five years. Thursday morning temps in the 20's froze everything done, making for a small window early in the morning to ride the mountain bike course. Ski trails smooth, fast and hard from pre winter season prep.
Singletrack in great shape considering mid April. Expected more downed trees but just a couple. Having said that, sure they will fall now. All good.
The rain on Sunday and rapid melt raised the lake level 11". I have never seen the water in Bullhead bay as high as it is now. Just one short section of singletrack under water. The dog in the picture is Odee. Not a Richards dog, a visiting dog. It was walking on the fresh ice from the morning and couldn't believe he didn't fall through.
Last year we did a short notice race and Maplelag MTB team training camp the end of April but don't think it will happen this year with Easter late and weekends tied up early May. There might be a slight chance on a Sunday for the race but will be very last minute. Will keep anyone interested posted.
This week at Maplelag we had a group that did tracking training. Identifying footsteps and what not to catch the crooks and bad guys. Deb had to fill a plastic baggie of sugar for cocaine and a bag of oregano for marijuana. They were glad to see the snow gone because snow would of made things to easy. Seems obvious but one of the guys from down south said they had a shot of snow and guess the robber didn't think about leaving tracks and they followed his steps right to his hiding spot. Lot of other interesting stories from the field, guns, shooting, etc. wow.
