With our yard being exposed to the south, this is the first area to lose snow. Over the years I have learned that our yard can be completely free of snow but there is still snow on certain trails for skiing.

Monday four areas opened up which signaled the start of baseball season as the boys took to the field for practice and pets marked territory. The yard is typical of the Spring, stuff all over the place. This years addition littered with tons of "tootsie rolls", as Jonell's brother said.
Tootsie roll factory. Jonell said I bring the pug to next vet appt. because of weight issues and apparently I am responsible for that. If the vet suggests dental work......
With temps warming up more during the day, the sap has been running good. The season was a bit later around here with colder than average March. The neighbors put their bags out last week and I checked them out on Monday to find them filling up with sap nicely. Always reminds me of the years we used to sugar. It was hard work going through the process of getting buckets out, collecting sap, boiling, bottling, cleaning, etc. than gathering the buckets at the end of the season and cleaning. But years like this year made it harder having to trudge through 1-2 feet of snow in spots. Of course the reward was the sweetness of pure maple syrup. As far as natural, pure foods, there aren't many things that top it.
