Friday I had to run Jens to town and take care of a few other errands. I had a rare urge to stop at a garage sell. I never stop at those.

I found this square glass vase. Cost $1. Jens said he thought it was going to be $50. The night before Jens, Jonell and I raced from the Great Northern Cabin to our house with bicycle. Jens said I was going to win, than him than Jonell. Jonell pulled off the upset, Jens nipped me for second. We gave the glass vase to her as her prize.

Past weekend concluded the last wedding weekend of the Spring. Ran short in housekeeping department but Jon stepped up to the plate and logged some full days and even put time in the kitchen washing dishes and serving. Nicely done Jon.

Jack and I were hauling wood for the bonfire and found the first salamander of the year.
Jonell putting her vase to use over the weekend.
We live in the country and therefore it is important to keep doors shut. A bat snuck in to the lodge late Saturday night/Sunday morning and security officer Ron was able to direct it down the stairs and to the basement. Jens and I took over while Ron watched and after 25 swings or so, Jens finally knocked it down and I discarded it proper in a reasonable and prudent matter. After that, Jens fell asleep on one of the couches in the lodge. The open space below the DL sign is where the Callaway sign will go I am thinking.
Jake raced the second race in the Minnesota series on Sunday at Mt Kato ski area. He went down the day before with his girlfriend Jess, staying in the southern metro with his aunt and uncle. Jake had some good pre-race drama the morning of. Lost his wallet, spilled some drink, blew the front tubular out before race start and than some guys found his wallet with cash gone and gave it to Matt Horner I am told. Despite the helter skelter in the am, had a solid race, posting a 6th place finish among a very strong, stacked Elite field. Said he felt great as the race developed and the hardtail 26 worked perfect. To me this is the bike of choice for the Midwest if you are a comfortable with your descending skills. Last Sunday we did hill work on the hills I have been doing up/vertical workouts on for 21 years. It was at the tail end of the wedding weekend and I was pretty wiped to begin with. Took me all week to recover from that workout. There is a 5-6 minute climb that is harder than anything in the series and Jake said the hills at Kato were nothing compared to that climb on Sunday. Hitting it again Thursday to prep for Afton and Subaru Cup.
