Last weekend enjoyed a light schedule with not much going on. Going to church on Sunday the important thing on the agenda and Jake racing at Buck Hill which he went down day of with Jess. Posted his best result of the season in the Minnesota series and solidifying his second place overall in the series. Nice job Jake.

Out for a paddle on Little Sugarbush with Jack exploring Bullhead bay.

Request for change of roommates. Bless Jonell's heart for stepping up to the task.

Headed west on Tuesday for US MTB Championships at Sun Valley
Stopped outside Miles City, hitting one of those roads you always think would be fun to check out. Good time to spin out the car legs and open up the legs with a few 1-2 minute jumps. The road didn't go up very far but with the head wind ripping from the south, made the climb seem much longer and good speeds going back down making for fun times, especially with no one else on it.

After up on top, it looped around some old government type settlement with concrete buildings but now abandoned and no signage so figured all good.

Save a horse ride a bike. Cattle roaming around.
Beautiful badlands.
Just as Jake was setting down the bike....
...a snake slithered out of the brush!

Crossed the interstate to check out access road on other side.
Rolling through ID outside of Arco. Crazy steep road going up the mountain. Another one that would be fun to check out.

Crater of the Moon National monument. Jonell and I stopped here last time through this area 10 years ago and most interesting.
Staying in Hailey, about 20 minutes from Sun Valley. Little bit lower elevation. Checking out some back roads, climbing up in to the hills. Opted for the road bike on this ride which made for an interesting descent on the more loose and rocky sections. Jonell and I were here in the summer of 92, I think, and I did a mtb race on Galena pass which was one of the hardest races ever. Fully rigid ride rolling over basketball size boulders on a 15 mile loop x 2. The area has grown big time but still has a small town mountain feel with friendly people and more openness compared to CO. Racing starts Friday for Jake with the xc and he is also doing the short track and Super D on Sunday.
