Last weekend Jens had his third and final hockey tourney in Alex. He wanted to bring his bike along so he could ride on the bike path there after his last game. The bike path in Alex has been a good thing for getting the wheels moving. Tons of people using the trail in various forms. All good.
Jack got home from two weeks of Italian camp. He went the day before we got home from Idaho so I hadn't seen him in three weeks. Great to have Jack back and he was in Jack form right away.
Jonell and I got up to the lake cabin earlier in the week, just the two of us. My mom had the three youngest boys in I Fall visiting cousins and dad covering at home, thanks to both. First time in 20 years just us there. Was probably the most quiet we have seen it other than the Fall.
Pastor Pinehurst kept an eye on everything, like usual, making sure no shenanigans.
Monday night it rained almost 3" in the area, washing out some of the roads on the forest/snowmobile roads. Within 8 hours, the White Earth maint. department was filling them up and had them graded by the time I came back from a loop.
Second day rode up to Strawberry mountain via the forest road and Norris road. With the rain, the climb up was probably in the best condition ever seen it with all the loose washed down below. I still wasn't able to clean the middle section which is the most steepest. Stawberry Mountain is the 20th highest point in MN. But the Norris road to the east a bit actually climbs to over 2000 ft. From a starting point of 1400 ft or so, makes for a fast rolling ride back.
Not much has changed in the area the last 20 years, time pretty much stands still. Sue bought a house in the area and put up a food stand. The min donuts were pretty good.
