Mid State CC 2017

Mid State conference cross country was hosted by Pequot Lakes this year. The meet was held in Cross Lake at the community center on the Nordic ski trails. It was a "true" country course running deep in the woods on sandy trails and hilly terrain. Many coaches weren't happy with the course but personally I think it is good to expose kids to other types of running and everyone is in the same boat.

It was a late start and the October sun set fast and a chill set in. Perfect for running!
Pre-meet ritual led by Jack.
Heading out in to the woods. Beautiful fall day.
Jack charging up a hill.
Be a fun place to ski in the winter. Jack suggested checking it out over winter break.
Post race.
With dad.
Mom.
Before the race, Jonell and I went over a hour before and I got a quick ride in at Cuyuna. The colors were hitting their prime.
Berm action.

New pump track. The trails got a huge boost in the form of $24 mil to expand. I would love to see some natural, classic type cross country track but I don't think it is going to happen unfortunately.

Serious dirt moving for "singletrack".
Jonell enjoying the lovely fall day at the picnic area. Afterwards we stopped at the new restaurant in town, the Iron Range Eatery. Great place to check out if passing through.
