The bmx bike has been the commuter bike of choice the past couple of months. Jon wants to get back into the racing this year so I figure if we are going to be at the races I might as well race myself so riding on the icy road as of late has been good bike handling practice. Jack thought it looked like fun so the other day he got his bike out and has been riding back and forth from the lodge. Last night I told him to ride down this path and he hesitated at first but after the first time he was hooked. Jon then had to try it as well as Jake and they goofed around on the section of "singletrack" for about a half hour. Jens pushed his lawnmower up and down. Jon got new hockey gloves for good grades. The season ended this past weekend. They won their last game and he scored a goal which is a nice way to end the season.

Today I was firing up the old sauna and it needed water in the tank so I chopped the hole used for plunging to get water. At that time a lone goose came flying. I wondered if it was going to try and land. I think the snow down south pushed some geese up this way as we never see them this early.

Today I busted out the RCS crowns for the first time. I bought them last year for a super price from Erik up in Fargo. Last week I put nnn bindings on and waxed them up. They worked great in the sugar snow and should work even better on soft/wet snow. They are a bit long for me but will get better glide when it is softer.

Looks like we are going to miss out on the snow again which is fine. Makes for a bit harder grooming but when it warms up we are set for good springlike conditions again. The crust cruising has been awesome. Look forward to using the jib skates when we are closed for the season.

My parents are on vacation in Mexico so that means covering all bases. Deb the cook was off today as well so did breakfast to start the day and everything else from that point on. They just caught a flight to PVR from MSP during that storm on Monday that hit MSP. They were stuck in Fargo for two hours. I am sure my dad was going stir crazy but they are down south having a well deserved break.

Maybe next week the bike will come out for real. Posted by Picasa
