See Jon? He is smack dab in the middle, top row. The entire 2nd grade class had play today. Old MacDonald songs. Cute. A person sitting next to me made the comment "boy, don't they do a great job?"...meaning the teachers and what not. Yes they do I said but I sure miss the Callaway days. Before the closed Callaway elementary, it just seems like Jonell and I were more involved with the school functions. Now everything is much bigger at Roosevelt in Detroit Lakes and the programs have so many kids and I feel out of touch. Jonell went to PTO meeting last week and they said enrollment is up and they are tight on space and need more classrooms. I don't get it. Our property taxes go from 17k a year to 56k a year and the school closes. Walmart comes to town, Menards, Taco Bell, population is slightly growing, housing market is going nuts, hiway 10 relocation project costing millions but they had to close Callaway for cost containments. Blamed it on Pawlenty. Whatever. To me our property taxes should be less now but the assesor doesn't buy it. He thinks we should sell lakeshore lots instead of trying to run a cross country ski resort. Anyways, after a evening of riding, playing foot...basket and base ball, Jake decided he wanted to go for a swim. He's nuts. The sun was out but it is like 40 some degrees and the wind has a bite. He jumped in like 4 times. Good training for Saturday I guess. Looks like it could be cold at CORC. Jake and I will be heading over when he is done with school. First race of the year. You never know what to expect, form wise. Just going over to have some fun. Looks like it might be a bit muddy which would be all the more fun. I hope it is real muddy!! The last good mud race was at Sandilands. This year Sandilands is on the 28th. We have a big wedding here so probably can't make it. I would for sure if I could sneak away. Fishing opener and Mothers Day this weekend.I wonder if anyone will be on the lake. I hope some of the antique stores are open in Cable area so I can find something for Jonell. Oh, where did Nick Martin come from? I try to keep on top the mtb scene as much as I can and I don't know where this guy came from and he's gone pro. From WI? Geez, I was looking at the results from the Fontana and the xc numbers just seem down. Only 12 or so in JR X boys? You would think there would be more than one Cali JR.Expert rider when the National is in CA. What are they doing? All racing bmx and skate boarding...freeriding? I remember the first Nationals I did at Mount Spokane the Expert fields were huge. I remember Tomac taking the downhill and xc one year. I also remember almost dying driving out with George Hayes from MN one year. If the guy wasn't pushing near 100mph, something was wrong. I wonder where George is these days? Posted by Picasa
