Putting away the other shirts I found the Volga shorts. Two people I saw last weekend at St Cloud I know have Volga shorts. Joe Surla and Jeff Hall. I bet Joe still wears his.
And the Tour De Bump at Buck Hill. Midwest MTB Finals
Snappling Snapper. I like the "Who Dares Wins" This shirt bring backs the memory of the time Jonell and I were at the corner that rocks in Moorhead, Kirby's . Well, used to.....it was torn down a few years ago. Anyways, the Gear Daddies were playing, Jonell and I in the front and in between songs Martin Zellars stops and looks at the shirt and says "nice gears".
At the end of 91 race season I jumped on board the Cheep Team. A great bunch of guys that always had a good time.
The last race of the 91 season was a good one. The short and fat and a victory. Aaron Romaine and I camped in the Cable ball field and it just poured all night. We woke up and our tents were floating near the dugouts. Was freezing at the start, had a head cold but went out to take the win. Jeff Hall was out in front and about 3 miles to go, I caught him and won by 50 seconds. It was one of the "mud years" not wet and splashy mud but the hub deep grind it out mud. Say no to day glow.
With all the shirts in the closet from the early years, could blog quite a bit about all the races but well let it rest with this. Sorry if this was too cheezy but back in the day there was no blogging and internet and brings back some good memories from early day mtb racing.
