Hang on to yer seat!

This incredible Fall continues. Can't remember Fall like this in a long time. We still have a ways to go and chances are we will get blasted with some cold air and I would say our chance of getting snow this month, or at least some flakes, at 80%.

Finally went out for a ride on the Loppet course. Pretty darn nice. Wow.
The section of new singletrack we are working on now called for the old school weedwhacker. This tool is awesome. Back in the day like 18 years ago when we first cut trail, this was the tool of choice. Broke on location yesterday but some duct tape and a stick as a hasty splint and good to go. Going to get a nice big long shaft so the back doesn't get worked over so bad.

Has taken some serious abuse but the teeth are sharp as ever and cuts the soft out very good. Perfect width and levels and pulls dirt nicely.
Applied for one of the IMBA/USA Cycling grants but didn't get it. Oh well, we will keep plugging away. We did get on the
National Calendar again and no conflicting Nationals so that was good. Looking at the Nationals schedule, looks like Sea Otter, Angel Fire and Sol Vista for sure. With the East Nationals split up, makes it tough to go east.

Jonell and I have been out a couple times now running. Super D training has begun! Our goal is to run all the ski trails this fall. I am doing each trail on the Garmin 705 for a new trail map. Once the snow flies, we will be ready for skiing! Going to upgrade Jonell to some RCS rockets.

Life is good with a bag of wavy Lays. The first 10 chips out of a fresh bag are the best. Was brushing on the west trails today so Jonell brought out lunch for a little picnic action on the brushcutter and saved me 45 minutes of back and forth. Thanks Jonell! Had some downtime end of last week after blowing out bearings on the roller which is at the rear of the brushcutter. Brought it over to Arne's and he beefed up the sides and what not and put a steel shaft in the middle of the roller for enforcement since there was nothing there and pretty sloppy with just mount plates and bearings. The bolts are now drilled into the shaft with the bearings. The shaft by the way came from Gooner at Waubun steel. Should get through the season now.
