Saturday we celebrated Jon's birthday having four of his friends over. One of his friends' family was moving so we offered to have their two other boys so it would be easier for them. Lots of boys, all good.
Sometimes we think if we had four girls, than the above picture would be 10 girls I guess 11 with Jonell and I would probably have pink toe nails and blogging bout horses and dolls. Of course it would be fantastic.
Good times bowling. Looking forward to taking Jonell "real bowling" in VT.
Jake and I headed down to Elk River for MNSCS racing action. Haven't had time to look for any pictures so posted some from Bill Hinkens (above) and Eric LeBow (below) who took the time to send from Natz. Thanks guys. Can't believe the last MNSCS race for me was the Spring Opener when SamO and I were chasing down his bro Eric.
The race at Elk River was weird. Full recap in skinnyski report but end of the day I wish I would of had the street clothes on and handled feeds and cooling duties for Jake, Lars and others. Tom Warner was doing water for us and had his hands full trying to cover four riders which is no easy task in the warm conditions. Much appreciated Tom. We just haven't had any hot and really humid days up here and even working conditions have been cool. Working in the heat usually gets me acclimated nicely for hot weather racing but many days spent on the mower in jeans and sweatshirts this summer. After racing in the 100 degree temps at Sea Otter this year, guess I am a bit gun shy pinning the needle in the red zone when tropical-like. Not sure. But the bonk wasn't a normal bonk and thinking it might be best to take a break from racing for a while until total recovery is in place. Hard thing to do when racing runs through the veins but plenty on the plate so all good. Jake has a few more key races coming up so will help him get ready for those amap. For sure Rich Omhdal and crew did a fantastic job. It was nice to see them do free t's and payout 15 down, couple of things we do for our race and created a nice atmosphere for all the racers. Well done. Jake was rolling pretty good then blew up last lap. Its tough to be hammering out for two hours at 16 back to back weekends. Said good training and another learning race. Good job.
Dan and Justyn wrapping up shingle project on Jim and Mary's house. Not a fun one. Buffalo board and old style styro. Steep pitch. Totally OSHA approved. Dan fell off his church roof doing work there so he has a rope tied to a tree on the other side. Christian music blasting nicely from the boom box.... good to go. We pulled shingles off our house today and hope to have that project done by the end of the week. Suddenly the shingles are at replacement stage on a lot of the cabins. I hope the prices come down in the Fall.
