Last week was a blur. Tons of little projects going on and trying to get everything ready at the lodge etc. as we transition in to Fall and usual full plate of kid stuff.

3-4 weeks ago there was water saturated around a well. Thought it was from high water tables but after a 10 day dry spell still wet so figured a small leak. Dug out the pressure tank and sure enough 4 holes. Put new pressure tank inside since Candy store building is now a lodging unit.
Carlos getting in to the sloppy mess.
Jens got out train set the other day when all the bros were gone. Kind of stopped Jonell and I in our tracks because it has been a few years since he has played like that. With older bros and friends around most of the time, its much cooler to pretend you are turning 17 instead of 8.

Last weekend headed down on Friday for hockey tourney than mtb racing in Duluth on Sunday. Jonell taking business on the road and planning for weeks to come.
Jon was playing with a team put together by the JR Blizzard AAA group that consisted of players from District 15. Very nice looking team. The club won all four games to take the tourney. On Sunday they scheduled a game against the Reebok Nationals team and won that game which was a pretty big win since this National team is typically top team in state and country I guess. I watched Friday and Saturdays game than hooked up with Jake, Jack and Ethan and went to Duluth Saturday early evening.

Saturday night the boys zipped around the lake front, spinning out the car legs. I didn't have a bike and was driving me nuts. Ethan wanted to climb the ladder to the top of the lift bridge but I held him back because I think he would of done it.
Sunday was a full plate of racing with Jens and Jack racing Kids Comp, Ethan Citizen for his first race ever and Jake racing Expert. Jens blasted off the start like a wild man, racing like he was doing a short loop on the pump track or something. Jake said he was going to pop. But he held on to fifth, racing for a hour. Crazy long for Kids Comp. Race director Adam is aware and showed good form dropping a email today trying to get on top of everything to make it better next year. Sweet looking course and talking to the riders, top notch trail. Hard not racing this one. Hopefully next year.
I don't think I have ever seen Jens grimace like this before. He still was riding around on his bike the rest of the day, heading up and down that long hill.
Jack got the award on the day for being out on the course the longest, riding for almost 2 hours. Like I said, Adam is aware of the length and that is good because it will be tough keeping kids racing if that is their experience. Jack paced himself nicely, stopping along the way and watching Citizen racers and hooking up with Jack Johnson and I am sure talking the whole time along the way made it go by fast. Jack was all smiles and usual happy Jack when he was done and super proud of his attitude to just finish and have fun.
Jake's friend Ethan did his first race ever with the goal to have fun and no worries on placing. Ethan has pretty much tried every sport. If you ask Ethan to jump off a 80 foot bridge, he would. Ethan is a stud hockey player, being named to the Elite prep development team this Fall. I am sure he is the only player riding like that and for sure the only one doing some big time lake jumping.

Ethan training last week.
Like this shot in Citizen race. The young and keeping young. Awesome.
Hollywood/Silver Cycle team in pre-race prayer. Nicely done H-Wood. Amen.
Jake had a big week of training leading in to Duluth after his big riding trip out west in CO with legs toast up until Friday. Recovered nicely to post his best finish ever in the Elite class with a top 5 finish. Jake loved the course and said it was one of his favorites. There is talk about a high school league forming out of the metro for mountain biking. Would be great to see. Keep the races short and tight like high school skiing and it will work. Jake was the only rider in his class and we live in the sticks. Something isn't right. There are too many awesome trails in the metro. Nicely done Jake.
