We had no plans for hockey in August but the past two weekends were opportunities Jon didn't want to pass so we committed. Jon was asked to play on a team based out of southern Ontario with half the players from Ontario and the other half from border towns in MN.

The team was called CanAm Selects and played this past weekend in a tourney in Blaine. They won all five games to take the championship. Very nice team and by the middle the second game, really started to gel for not ever playing with each other. Canada really gets in to their hockey, and talking to the parents is a riot. I can hardly keep up in a conversation. All good.
Lots of new friends made and some special players played with. It has been a amazing spring and summer of hockey. Way more than we planned but that's how it turned out. I don't think Jon will realize what this summer was until he gets older. Jon played in 9 tournaments between April and August with five different teams. Eight tournaments won and one tourney 2nd place. Mostly games this summer so it didn't seem as crazy as it sounds and compared to what some summer/year round programs based out of the cities.....sports have changed. Jon started with a smile and ended with a smile, loving every minute of it having fun which is the bottom line.
I took Jon down as we had a wedding at Maplelag. Jake and Deb covered my duties so big thanks to them for that as Jonell, Jim and Mary and staff did there usual fantastic job. Jake was taking photos...this is where the short track will run on Saturday.
It was only a matter of time before something "bad" happened on the lake jump. Last week Jake dinged his foot a bit when the chain fell off en route to the jump. Lake jump will be pulled for bike race weekend.
Jake's friend Jess rolling in nicely with a big white truck. Jake has some good back up if he gets stuck in a animal trap again.

Yesterday we finally cleared the entire course of trees/deadfall etc. Than last night some 50-60mph gusts came blasting through ahead of that storm system and the high ridges and areas after sloughs/opens got hit hard. We cleared the entire bike course today with my dad, Jake, myself and two students from Russia, Oskar and Sergei who are helping at Maplelag until the end of September.

Oskar and Sergei with a load in the green truck. Looking forward to hopefully finishing the singletrack by twin lakes this fall with these guys. Oskar helped me put up a mailbox the other week and asked what the red flag was for. We both learned something about mailboxes in Russia and US. The only flick Jonell and I saw in the movie theater this summer was Salt. Hmmm.
Non-IMBA section. Made a bypass. Keep weight back, just roll over, don't stop and you'll be fine. Pretty much every tech section do that. Better to have speed to carry through than crawl and brake.

Jake did a few teaser blows today and after the rain last night, these sections are perfect. Not muddy, just hardpack tack. Maybe another shot of precip middle of the week than Jake will blow everything out. Jake has done a lot of work on the course the past few weeks which has been great.

Show me your insurance card, sign a waiver and go for it. Little added feature is a dirt pile halfway down the take off. Little construction project going on around there. Sunday evening could be doable.
