This week I made a trip to Two Inlets to pick up some lumber at the mill there. We had cut the logs from our property and had them sawed to rough cut boards by Richard Jensens' near Rochert. Jensen recently retired from sawing but couldn't handle retirement so has been cutting small jobs "for fun". Once the rough cut boards dried, my dad took them to Two Inlets to have planed. We will use the smooth oak, maple, birch and poplar boards for shelving and trim.
Growing up, there were a lot of trips to Two Inlets. Most of the lumber and timber in the original came from the Maplelag woods. Some of the tongue and groove and rough cut timbers in the new lodge from the woods by selective harvest and not enough board feet to cover all the walls.
My dad had an old International truck he used for his blasting days and also was good for hauling good size loads. While the yard was loading the truck, I would play in the sawdust piles. Learned not to play with shorts and no shirt on a hot and humid day.
Stacks drying out.
